Discussion of spiritual practices: awakening, meditation, and the freedom that cannot be lost or found. All perspectives are welcome; advaita, christian, buddhist, islam or even no perspective at all. Just pointing to that which is nearest and dearest.

thinking

You are not your thoughts!  This is obvious but we easily forget this fact and become slaves to what appears in the mind - reacting to life out of our past - missing the freedom to respond to life in a fresh way.

A powerful meditation technique is to just notice our thoughts without judgement and without reacting in any way to them.   So … during practice, when thoughts arise (they probably will (LOL)) just notice them and say silently to yourself: "thinking".

In a twenty minute session you may find yourself saying: "thinking, thinking, thinking" several hundred times.  This is ok … the goal is not to quiet the mind or have better thoughts … the goal is to just notice the thoughts and, of course, conclude that you are not them.  Ahhhhh freedom!

peace on you,
bob
