The first purpose of meditation is to become familiar with our inner life. As we begin to witness our negative thinking and our obsession with the past and the future, they cease to control us - the mind becomes quieter and life takes on a fresh tone.
The ultimate purpose of meditation is to find out who is meditating. Who obsesses? - who meditates? - and who desires peace?
With practice (noticing and seeking the seeker), you will come to see that you need do nothing to get out of a problem you don’t have.
